FMS Swimmers Take Third at Conference Finals

Fishburne Military School Brings Home Best Finish in Four Years

Waynesboro, VA – For the last four years the Fishburne Military School swim team has not finished above 6th place at the Conference meet.  This year, The Caissons

brought home the 3rd-place medal from the VIC Conference finals, leaping over Roanoke Catholic, Covenant and New Covenant. 

The highlight of the night was Cadet Ryan Augueta’s (College Park, MD) come-from-behind victory for the 200 FREE RELAY TEAM, out touching VES by 0:024 seconds.

The team was comprised of Cadets Sebastian Holdridge (Bowie, MD), Wesley Loe (Annandale, VA), Joseph Jones (South Fulton, TN), and Argueta).

The 200 MEDLEY Relay team of Loe, Holdridge, Jones, and Gavin Flanagan (Centreville, VA) won silver medals, merely 1:26 seconds behind VES.

Loe also had an outstanding night finishing with a Silver Medal in the 100 BACK.  He also finished 6th in the 100 FLY.

Holdridge earned a bronze medal in the largest event of the night, 50 FREE.  He earned 5th place in the 100 BREAST.

In a championship format, the top 8 times earn points for their team.  The following earned points for FMS:
Argueta finished  4th in the 100 FREE and 7th in the 100 FLY.
Flanagan finished 5th in the 500 FREE and 6th in the 200 IM
Jones finished 8th in the 100 free.
Cristopher Zbavitel (Raleigh, NC) finished 7th in the 100 BACK
400 Free Relay (Flanagan,Zbavitel,Senger,Argueta) team finished 5th.

Because of their strong performances throughout the season and at finals, the following will be traveling to represent FMS at the State meet:
Loe, Holdridge, Jones, Flanagan, Argueta.

Celebrating 100 years as a US Army JROTC unit, Fishburne Military School is the oldest and smallest of all military schools for boys in Virginia. Its college-prep curriculum is built on the structure of an Army JROTC program. FMS has been designated as a JROTC Honor Unit with Distinction and may nominate qualified candidates to the United States Service Academies. Fishburne hosts one of only four Summer JROTC programs in the nation that is accredited by US Army Cadet Command.
