Fishburne Swimmers Start Season 4-0

Fishburne Military School Swim Team Opens Season with Strong Performance

recap by CPT John Rood, FMS Head Swim Coach
The meet started with the Fishburne Military School Caissons winning the 200 Medley with a state qualifying time. Cadets Wesley Loe (Annandale, VA), Sebastian Holdridge (Bowie, MD), Ryan Argueta (College Park, MD)  and Gavin Flanagan (Centreville, VA) led the effort.   Because of this year’s increased Fishburne Military School (Waynesboro, VA) Swim Team Starts Season 4-0numbers and added depth Fishburne Military School’s Swimmers were competitive in every event.  It took the whole team’s effort, but when the scores were tallied at the end of the night the Caissons came out on top!
FMS 90 – 69 Southwest Virginia Home School
FMS 98 – 74 Roanoke Catholic
FMS 92 – 69 Northcross
FMS119 – 12 Faith Christian
In addition to the State Qualifying relay score, Cadet Holdridge also qualifies for the state meet in the 100 Breaststroke.
Other honorable mentions:
– Gavin Senger (Harrisonburg, VA) set a personal record (dropping nearly 40 seconds) in the 200 FREE with a 5th place finish.
– Argueta finished 4th in the 200 IM  and 2nd overall in the 100 free (in both events he’s about 1 second away from the state qualifying time)
– Loe finished 5th in the 200 IM and 2nd in the 500 Free,
– Flanagan finished 3rd in the 500 Free
– Cristopher Zbavitel (Raleigh, NC) had a 5th place finish in the 100 back.
– 200 Free Relay squad. made up of Mason Fisher (Painter, VA), Holdridge, Argueta and Joseph Jones (South Fulton, TN) was 3rd overall but was only one second off the state qualifying time.
Jones and Flanagan have worked hard to create a culture of accountability and encouragement on this team.  We would not have this positive outcome without their hard work and commitment to the team.
Please congratulate ALL the boys on their success in the pool!
